Andrea Piras has been cooperating with the Trieste office of Zunarelli – Studio Legale Associato since 2012.
He regularly advises both Italian and international companies on corporate matters, including compliance, M&A transactions, protection of intellectual and industrial property rights, and the management of real estate assets. He also provides legal assistance in civil and criminal cases, with a particular focus on directors’ liability. In addition, he has collaborated with national public bodies on administrative and legal matters, having also the opportunity to cooperate with the Italian Defence General Staff supporting innovation-related initiatives.
Over the years, he has gained extensive experience in managing commercial and business operations with Eastern European countries, including the Russian Federation, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia. His efforts to strengthen commercial relations between companies in these regions have earned him public recognition and invitations to speak at various conferences, both in Italy and abroad.
He graduated with honors in Law from the University of Trieste in June 2011, with an experimental thesis on comparative law, titled “La giustizia commerciale nella Federazione Russa”.
He holds positions on supervisory bodies and boards of directors, and serves as Vice President of the National Penitentiary Police Association (Trieste Section).
He has been a member of the Trieste Bar Association since July 2014.

Notable Cases and Publications
1) Intellectual Property – Trademark Counterfeiting
Representation in court of the owner of a historic Italian trademark that was counterfeited. The litigation is aimed at ascertaining the infringement and obtaining compensation for significant damages.
2) Corporate Criminal Law – Carousel Fraud
Defence of the legal representative of a limited liability company charged with carousel fraud. The trial, characterised by a complex investigation due to its transnational nature, ended with an acquittal because the offence did not exist.
3) Russia and Balkans Desk – Company acquisition in Croatia
Assistance to an Italian company in the acquisition of a Croatian company operating in the metalworking sector. The transaction, which involved the assessment of succession issues due to the death of a partner of the target company, required the coordination of Italian and Croatian legal teams.
4) Russia and Balkans Desk – Company acquisition in Slovenia
Assistance to an Italian-Croatian company in the acquisition of a controlling stake in a Slovenian company operating in the carpentry sector. The transaction involved the integrated analysis of legal and tax aspects in the Croatian, Italian and Slovenian jurisdictions.
5) Russia and Balkans Desk – European sanctions
Assistance to leading Italian industrial groups in complying with Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014. The activity included representing the groups before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to obtain authorisation licences.
