Participants will be able to attend a series of discussions on topical subjects covering two main themes: <em>\u201cFreedom of Movement, Migration and Human Rights<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Food, Environment and Energy Challenges<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alberto Pasino<\/strong>, together with <strong>Mariaelena Giorcelli<\/strong> and <strong>Christoph Oertel<\/strong>, will chair the joint session organized by the <strong>International Sale of Goods, the Contract Law and the Transport Law Commissions<\/strong> focusing on the impact of time and time periods on international contracts of sale of goods and contracts of carriage.<\/p>\n<p>The joint session, which will take place on <strong>27 October, starting at 14.30 (CET)<\/strong>, will focus on the notion of time in relation to commercial contracts, with a strategic, pragmatic and comparative approach. Time periods can affect the way parties negotiate a contract, and timely performance can be \u201cof the essence\u201d or \u201cat large\u201d. After a contract has been made, a delay can occur and the question can then be whether it is reasonable or inexcusable. Finally, limitation periods define when claims become time-barred.<br \/>\nThe debate will involve highly qualified practitioners from different jurisdictions who will explore the various situations in which time and time periods become relevant for a lawyer\u2019s practice.
