{"id":43016,"date":"2017-08-02T08:58:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T08:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/studiozunarelli.com\/2025\/10\/02\/free-port-of-trieste-the-decree-has-been-signed\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T11:59:20","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T11:59:20","slug":"free-port-of-trieste-the-decree-has-been-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studiozunarelli.com\/en\/free-port-of-trieste-the-decree-has-been-signed\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Port of Trieste: the decree has been signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 27 June 2017 the Italian Minister for Infrastructures and Transport, the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the President of <em>Autorit\u00e0 di Sistema Portuale dell&#8217;Adriatico Orientale<\/em> (the Trieste Port Authority) announced the adoption of the implementing decree of the Free Port of Trieste.<\/p>\n<p>The Decree confirms the peculiarities of the Port of Trieste, the only extra-customs free zone in Europe which derives its legitimization from an international treaty (Paris Treaty of 1947) prior to the birth of the European Union. In particular the Decree strengthens the powers of the President of the Port Authority to whom the management of the Free Port is entrusted. Besides exercising managing powers, the President has also the power of reorganizing the free zone through a decree, and of extending it if the need arises due to the international trade activity. He has also the power of authorizing the handling of goods and the production of goods and services of an industrial nature.<\/p>\n<p>The coordination of the activities carried out by the public institutions, and the power to provide technical assistance to those who intend to invest in the Free Port are also of great importance.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority will also have the task of enhancing the rail connections, by monitoring the use of the relevant infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>During the press conference which was held in Trieste the Minister for Infrastructures and Transport stated that \u201c<em>in this sense Trieste strengthens the whole system, not to the detriment of the others, but by attracting more trade.
