On May 29, 2023, the Chamber of Commerce of Milan welcomed the Chinese delegation representing the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA).
The meeting, chaired by the General Director of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration, was an important occasion for discussing the latest developments of the SCIA, as well as for the awarding of the certificate of appointment of Prof. Avv. Stefano Zunarelli – former arbitrator of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission – as arbitrator of the SCIA.
During the meeting, the importance of the Shenzhen area was emphasized. The area’s growing economy, also favored by its strategic geographic location, lays the foundation for a promising – and increasingly strong – cooperation with Italy, both in terms of trade and, consequently, of dialogue in the context of arbitration procedures.
As regards the latter aspect, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two arbitration chambers further confirmed the willingness of both countries to enhance the cooperation, in order to activate a joint action aimed at sharing and adopting a common approach in the context of international trade and dispute resolution.
On the occasion of his appointment, Prof. Avv. Stefano Zunarelli reiterated the importance of simplifying and accelerating arbitration procedures, in order to encourage the use of arbitration as a privileged alternative for dispute resolution, within the more general framework of business cooperation between Italian and Chinese companies.
