The guidelines for the drafting of the port system planning schemes have been issued by the Commission established by the Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici (Italian Authority responsible for overseeing public works).
The reform of the port legislation in Italy, governed by legislative decree of 4 August 2016, no. 169 concerning the reorganization, rationalization and simplification of the regime of Port Authorities laid down by law 28 January 1994, no. 84, has led to the Piano regolatore portuale (PRP – Port planning scheme) being replaced by the Piano Regolatore di Sistema Portuale (PRdSP – Port system planning scheme), as an indispensable precondition for a renewed national strategy in the sector.
