Dubai-Expo 2020 is starting, already in January 2017, to offer new business perspectives and opportunities for companies interested in developing and/or consolidating their presence in the country, in particular following the recent announcement of the publication of the calls for tenders for the production of Expo official licensed products. The products to be licensed will be about five thousand, including souvenirs and collectibles, the production of which will be subject to the calls for tender. The calls will be divided into four categories: traditional products, souvenirs and collectibles, luxury products and products featuring the event symbol. According to the organizing committee, the product licensees will be seventy, one third of which are expected to be SMEs.
In 2016, thanks to the acceleration of the ongoing projects, mainly in the tourism, commercial, and hospitality and retail sectors, there has been an increase in the number of Italian companies that have initiated the creation of subsidiaries, branches or startups in the United Arab Emirates. Indeed, now appears to be the most appropriate time to start local entities and invest directly with a view to 2020, possibly seizing the opportunities provided by the different free zones in the country which offer advantageous conditions for the formation of a business entity and virtually no taxation.
