“Cancellation of Flights due to COVID-19: Substantive and private International Law Issues” Webinar, organised by UIA (Union Internationale des Avocats) and co-chaired by Alberto Pasino (President of the UIA Transport Law Commission) with Paolo Lombardi (President of the UIA Private International Law Commission, Studio Legale Elexi, Turin, Italy) will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, from 4.00 to 5.30 PM. Access to the event is free of charge subject to compulsory registration.

The pandemic has severely impacted the air transportation industry and the rights of passengers and shippers, resulting in a flight cancellation policy adopted by the vast majority of air carriers. Some countries have passed legislatures which offer the option of vouchers by carriers, and qualify those as overriding mandatory rules.

Law experts from different jurisdictions will discuss, with a hands-on approach and practical reference to cases, the private international law issues along with the substantive and regulatory problems related to the matter. The reports will be held by Sébastien Goulet (Favarel & Associés, Marseille, France), Olaf Hartenstein (Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein, Hamburg, Germany), Christopher B. Kende (President of the UIA Insurance Law Commission, Cozen O’Connor, New York, USA), Mara Stylianou (Stylianou & Stylianou law of Office, Piraeus, Greece) and Rachel Welford (Cozen O’Connor, Washington, DC, USA).

The webinar will be held in English.
