As anticipated in our last newsletter, the seminar “RUSSIA: opportunities and solutions from the legal and commercial point of view in times of embargo” took place at the Chamber of Commerce of Pescara on 22 April 2016.
Several companies and professionals interested in operating in the Russian market participated in the event organized by Confindustria Abruzzo, Confindustria Pescara Chieti, Bar Association of Pescara and Bar Association of Chieti. Indeed, although the embargo has caused a reduction in the Italian export to Russia by over 30% (notwithstanding the increase in the export of some products), there are still many business opportunities with Russia and with Russian companies (also in consideration of the fact that, since they are limited to certain products, the EU sanctions and the Russian countermeasures do not concern many product sectors).
There is an intense promotional activity by the Russian government – and by the Ministry of Economic Development in particular – aimed at attracting potential foreign partners towards the Russian Federation, thus paving the way to the Russian market to small and medium-sized Italian companies.
Indeed, in addition to the organization of B2B meetings between Russian and Italian businesses, which in the past year have involved the professionals of the Russia Desk of the Firm engaged in the forefront with Italian and Russian companies, the Russian Agency for support to SMEs is organizing -once again with the collaboration of the Firm’s Russia Desk- a business mission dedicated solely to Italian companies which will take place next September in Tula. The Russian Government will cover the hotel and internal transport costs of the Italian delegation to the mission. Further details will be provided in our next newsletter.
